Why Endowment savings matters
An endowment policy is a long-term savings plan that provides both life cover and a lump sum at maturity. It suits people who want to save with discipline towards a future goal, and the premiums can be used for a personal income tax deduction under Revenue Department rules.
Save with discipline, receive a lump sum
Pay regular premiums and receive a lump sum when the policy matures — a structured way to save towards long-term goals.
Life cover alongside savings
Throughout the policy term your family is protected by life cover, so this is more than a savings account.
Eligible for tax deduction
Premiums on an endowment life policy can be claimed as a personal income tax deduction under Revenue Department rules [check the latest criteria].
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a bank deposit?
An endowment combines saving with life cover and has a fixed term, which helps build discipline — but it is less liquid than a deposit. Surrendering early may return less than the premiums you have paid.
What do I receive at maturity?
Generally a lump sum at the end of the term (the sum insured plus the benefits defined by the plan). Participating plans may also pay a dividend as declared by the insurer, and that amount is not guaranteed.
Which term should I choose?
It depends on your goal and what you can afford. A shorter term (say 15 years) means a higher annual premium but finishes sooner; a longer term (25–30 years) means a lighter annual premium with longer saving and cover. We are happy to compare them against your goal.
